About JM Photography

JM Photography was born from a deep love for experiencing the world through the lens of a camera. My journey didn’t start with portrait photography. It began nearly 20 years ago when I was in the Navy, and stationed in Washington, DC. I became fascinated by the city’s stunning architecture. Over time, my passion evolved as I began capturing meaningful moments for the people I loved. I became the friend or family member who always had a camera in hand, sharing photos and memories with everyone. About five years ago, my focus expanded further into fashion and portrait photography after joining the Columbus Editorial Society. Being part of such a creative and collaborative community gave me the experience and confidence to see photography from an entirely new perspective.

Today, JM Photography offers portrait, fashion, real estate/commercial photography and drone services, allowing me to showcase properties and spaces from both ground-level detail and stunning aerial perspectives. I love working closely with my clients—whether individuals, families, or real estate professionals— to create images that tell a story and leave a lasting impression. It’s incredible how special the world can look through the scope of your favorite lens.

My Story

I was born in Paterson, NJ, to two immigrant parents from Colombia. At the age of three, we moved to a place I didn’t even know existed—Columbus, Ohio—where we eventually settled in the charming community of Worthington. After high school, I joined the U.S. Navy, as a Corpsmen (Medic), serving alongside some of the most incredible people I’ve had the privilege to know. Serving my country was an honor, and the experiences I gained shaped who I am today.

Upon leaving the Navy, I pursued a degree in Healthcare Administration and transitioned into the healthcare insurance industry, where I’ve worked for almost twenty years. I truly enjoy my profession and value the strong relationships I’ve built over my time there.

Lastly, but most importantly, I am incredibly grateful for my amazing wife and our blended family that includes eight beautiful children. Their constant support allows me to dedicate time and energy to doing what I love. Without them, none of this would be possible.
